Classified Information Advertising in the printed and posted versions of The Driveline is not currently being used as a profit center. Magazine ads are posted as space permits in appreciation of club recognition in those publications. We do accept text-only commercial ads with MG relevance from members. These are run only on the internet and are limited to a three-month run per year of membership. No, this doesn't mean that you people who have been members for the whole twenty-five years can have seventy-five months of advertising starting now, it means that you can have another three months next year if you renew again. Classified ads are posted as a service to our members. There is no profit motive and we do not charge for ads, but we do reserve the right to reject ads for any reasons whatsoever, or even without benefit of reasons. We would like the ads to reflect some MG content, even if it is as a tow vehicle for your MG. Descriptions of items for sale are based on information supplied by the seller and are supplied in good faith with no guarantees on the part of the Chicagoland MG Club. Member ads will be printed in the next three issues of The Driveline and posted on the website for the 90 days roughly coinciding with their appearance in print. Non-member ads for reasonably complete MGs may be printed in the next issue of the Driveline as space permits and will be posted on the website for 30 days or thereabouts. Non-member ads for parts may run if it is an exceptional item, but don’t count on it. Ads from further away, including out-of-state ads, will include a photo as often as possible, since it is obviously difficult for our members to run over and look at a car in Alaska or New Jersey. Due to the differing time scales involved, I am really not interested in running ads for cars that are on eBay. If we are running an ad for you, please let me know if the item is sold so that I can make room for more ads and so that other MG folk aren’t disappointed when they call you about the item. I don't like spam any more than you do, so I will NOT post your actual email address in our classifieds. What I WILL do is to create an email forwarder on our web server which accepts email sent to yourfirstname.yourlastname@chicagolandmgclub.com and forwards it to your actual email address. When the ad is taken down, I will assassinate the forwarder and frustrate ant spammers which had glommed onto the temporary address. My primary goal is to see that as many MGs as possible wind up in happy homes. My secondary goal is to see that as many MGs as possible wind up in CMGC Rallies.
