Meetings and Gatherings

We have regularly scheduled club meetings on the third Monday of each month (except December) with presentations relating to the care and feeding of your car, as well as other auto related topics. The meetings are from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Come early for dinner and/or a good parking spot. The meetings are held at MACK'S GOLDEN PHEASANT, located just West of Route 83 on Route 64 (North Avenue) in Elmhurst. Enter front door, turn left, go downstairs.

There is also a regularly scheduled Natter 'n' Noggin (a British tradition of "talking and drinking") on the second Tuesday of each month. (Change of venue, see below). The talking, eating and drinking starts about 7:30 p.m. Come and stay as long as you can.

The Search Is On !!!!
Where will we settle for our next Natter 'n' Noggin' location?
The choice is yours.

As announced in the August edition of your favorite MG publication DRIVELINE, we will visit places that you, the members, nominate. And we’re glad to have received several suggestions that meet the most important criteria: ample free parking, within 1 mile of an Interstate off-ramp, private or semi private area for our club, reasonable prices and menu selection, and a low noise level.

The Search is still on!
And the good news is that spring is here, and we may be able to sample some of the places from the beer garden or patio. For May we'll do our second visit to Finn McCool's Irish Sports Pub. Last month we didn't notice the Tuesday Manager's Special until it was time to leave, but $10 domestic beer table tappers sound like a real good deal. Please join us for the final stretch of the N&N Search. We've now been at most of the places two times (we'll do a second Roundhead's also) And if you have any good suggestions let us know. We'd like another centrally located location, maybe somewhere along I-355, lets say between Lake Street and Butterfield Road.

Fin McCools sign Finn McCool's Irish Sports Pub which is located right at Rt. 53 in Rolling Meadows/Schaumburg. In fact it is about next door to Stadium. (where we were in December and January) The restaurant has hosted several other car clubs and Mike the manager knows MG's. He owned a Midget and his father had a T Series and a B. The reservation is under the club name, and they know that we're not all arriving at the same time and need separate checks.

Mullens Bar & Grill - - Feb 12, 2008 - Mar 11, 2008
3080 Warrenville Road - Click for map
Lisle, IL 60532
  -   Ph. 630 505 0240
This is just North of I 88 at the Naperville Road exit, on the NE corner of the Naperville Road and Warrenville Road intersection. Mullens has a very nice website complete with menu, map, and directions at:
www.mullensbarandgrill.com (select the Lisle location).

For February (on very short notice) we moved to the Mullen’s Bar & Grill. Despite the last minute change, and despite another serious snow storm, about 12 members met at Mullen’s. And all had a great time with some good food and great beer! But we have to give Mullen’s a fair chance to compete in our Search. A chance announced well in advance and (hopefully) a N&N with good weather. So on March 11 we have booked again at:

Stadium Sports Club - - Dec 11, 2007 - Jan 8, 2008
4015 Algonquin Road - - (Click for map)
Rolling Meadows, IL
- - (847) 397-2440
www.stadiumsportsclub.com
You can't get any closer to an Expressway because Stadium is right across the South bound Algonquin Road off-ramp from 53/355.

In December and January we met at Stadium Sports Club in Rolling Meadows. We had the Alcove area in the restaurant section. Stadium has a full menu with sandwiches and pizza and we saw pasta entrees that could easily serve a lunch-for-two from the leftovers.

Roundhead’s - - Nov 13, 2007
2001 63rd Street - - (Click for map)
www.roundheadspizza.com
Downers Grove, IL
- - 630 434 9999
Take the 63rd Street exit on I-355 and turn east. Follow 63rd for about 3/4 of a mile. Roundhead’s is on the SW corner of 63rd and Woodward.

The first search-night was November 13, when about 25 members came to Roundhead's in Downers Grove. Everything was really good and it may become a strong candidate in the contest. But more is coming!

We have tried out the Roundhead’s in Downers Grove and we think that it meets most of our requirements. But we want you to make the final decision. More parking that you can think of, about 3/4 of a mile from the 63rd Street exit on I-355, they promised us a semi private table/area, very reasonable prices and food, and a medium noise level. When we were there on a Thursday night the place was kind of busy, but there still was enough room for our group. We sat in the area that would be ours and it just so happened to be right next to the kitchen door. And boy, you won’t believe the pizza’s that came out of there. They smelled fantastic, and they came in all sizes. The biggest must have been at least 2 feet in diameter!
