The British Marque Newspaper
By Greg Hoeft
At our December meeting I read a letter from past president Larry Carlson. He had sent me a copy of The British Marque newspaper. It is a very nice publication and one that I had not seen before. Recently I received a regular promotional e-mail from Jeff Zorn of The Little British Car Company. Jeff and the LBCarCo have been supporting the VMGCC as a member and advertiser in our newsletter for many years. In the email I noticed the following: " Read All About It - Subscribe Today at LBCarCo Savings to the British Marque Newspaper" The announcement goes on to extol the advantages of this tabloid and makes the offer of a subscription through LBCarCo for only $14 for a full year of 11 issues. If you're interested, you can find out more at the Little British Car Company web site www.LBCarCo.com - look on the Specials/Gifts pages. There are a lot of items listed, so be patient and look for the offer.

A Rare Barn Find
Jerry Cihak sent in a note about a rare Bugatti supercar left to gather dust in an English garage for half a century that could fetch millions when it goes under the hammer next month. Many of the "barn find" tales turn out to be hoaxes in the end but this one seems to be real. The story goes that Harold Carr, a surgeon, apparently abandoned the rare Bugatti in his lock-up in northeastern Newcastle after buying it in the 1950s.
When the reclusive Carr died in 2007, his nephew found the Type 57S Atalante when he cleared out the garage and was amazed to learn that just 17 of the model were ever made. This story comes from the January 1 edition of Yahoo News.
