John Schroeder called the meeting to order just before 8:PM. John introduced the new officers for 2007: present were Jim Evans/President-Co-Chairman and Reinout Vogt/Treasurer; Russ Mehaffey/Vice-President/Co-Chairman and Doug Clark/Secretary were both absent.
Jim Evans announced that all staff members had been confirmed to continue in their positions and that Seth Jones was appointed to serve as Driving Events coordinator.
Dave Ransom gave a brief review of the Club Christmas party on December 5, with attendance at approximately 50 individuals.
Bill Mennell gave a description of past Amtrak trips organized by the Snyders, who were not at the meeting. It was presumed that this year’s trip on January 19 would be similar.
Future workdays on the club project car of January 28, February 3, and February 17 were announced. No specific tasks are scheduled.
Dave Lieb announced that several spots were open for a Miata club go-kart night at Chicago Indoor Racing on January 28.
Jim Evans called attention to marketing flyers received from University Motors regarding their schedule of upcoming Technical Seminars, which are held throughout the month of February. Several members who have attended these seminars in the past gave positive feedback from their experience.
Jim Evans announced that the 11th annual British Car Swap Meet Autojumble will be held on February 25, and that vendor registrations were coming in at the same rate as past years. Also, mailing of reminder postcards to swap meet shoppers was scheduled for the week of January 15; the first mailing consists of about 750 individuals.
Dave Bralich announced that North Suburban Sports Car Club (“NSSC”) will be conducting their annual driver/staff training school on March 24 at the Autobahn Country Club racetrack in Joliet, IL.
Jim Evans announced that the “MG Bucks” program would be reinstated for 2007 and that the club officers would be reviewing the membership function this year, to include discussions of recruiting new members and retaining current members.
Staff Reports: Bill Mennell announced the addition of several new additions to the club library.
The 50-50 raffle was held with the additional prizes of a University Motors T-shirt and a bag of Starbucks coffee; there was no program after the break.
