Upcoming Tech Sessions
and Project Car Days

Wade Keene March tech sessions. Hello everybody, I hope everybody that braved the elements had a good time at the swap meet, and maybe even picked up some goodies for their cars.
The Club Project car is coming along. Our most recent scheduled project car day was cancelled due to snow and lousy driving conditions, but at the one before that we replaced seals and gaskets on the transmission. The clutch fork lever and its bushing and bolt checked out ok; these frequently need attention. We had previously determined that it was in good shape otherwise so there was no need to do more make sure the oil stays on the inside. Body-wise, there is still some rust repair to be done to the fenders and splash panel mounts. The areas of the car that we’re done doing repair to have been sprayed with a sealing primer and filler primer, so a pretty good chunk of the car is ready to be block sanded in preparation for paint.
We’ll be having a tech session up north on March 24th at 10am at Seth Jones’ garage. He has a factory hardtop for his Midget that needs refurbishing. We’ll be dismantling the hardtop to determine just what it needs and prep it for refinishing if we can. He can be reached at 847.869.7474, or try e-mailing him for directions. He lives in Evanston, but the car is kept at a garage away from his house.
Editor: Here’s a note from Seth re the session: I am restoring my factory hard top for my 1971 mg midget. It will be on saturday march 24 in my garage (its heated) we will spend some time dismantling and assessing what needs to be replaced and what can be repaired. My address is 826 reba but my garage is one block east in the alley about halfway between custer and sherman. I will be there at 8:30 am to get the place warmed up. people should start gathering at 9. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Se you there-Seth Jones
Also, keep an eye out for work on Dan Osran’s front suspension in April. He has a ’79 MGB that is pretty clean, so I’m thinking and hoping that the disassembly won’t be near as hard as this job can be.
Upcoming tech sessions calendar:
March 10th – 9am at my shop in Homewood – bodywork on the club project car, front fender and splash panel area repair
March 17th – 9am in Homewood again – we’ll rebuild the Zenith carb for the project car and I have a pair of HS-4s to rebuild as well.
March 24th – Seth’s hardtop work. Contact him for directions and to verify the time
