Spring Chicken Rally 2007
AKA The Rambling Road to Roscoe

Remember when we used to invite the Windy City Miata Club along on the Lucas Knight Rally? It has been a few years now, but it is time to defend the honor of your chariot once again. This year's Spring Chicken Rally on May 5th will be a joint event with the Miata Club and what a day it will be!
We will start with the Miata Club monthly breakfast, which will be at Alemar's Restaurant on the SE corner of Quentin and Dundee Roads in Palatine between 7:30 and 9:00, followed by a drivers meeting.
The rally will run from there up to Roscoe, Illinois, north of Rockford. The rally has been carefully crafted to be an enjoyable drive, but your mileage may vary. Alternatively, you may choose to do the Photo Scavenger Hunt. This will follow the same route as the rally, so you can do both events simultaneously. No equipment beyond the usual clipboard, pen and rally thinking cap are necessary to run the rally, although the usual selection of maps could be helpful to some. I would ask that you not use GPS. If you want to do the scavenger hunt, please bring a digital camera.
The driving events will end in Roscoe in time for a late lunch. Croc's Pub, The Backyard Bar and Grill, Jessica's Restaurant, Beefaroo, Burger King and McDonalds are all nearby and Culvers is just down 251 at the next light. McDonalds Road.
After lunch we will go up to Rockton Road and tour the Historic Auto Attractions museum by Lefthander Chassis. They do not open for the season until Memorial Day, but they will open just for us if we can muster 30 people. The museum tour will cost $7 each. Check out their website at www.historicautoattractions.com to see some of the stuff they have. The tour bus from the Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley's 1972 Lincoln Mark IV, Richard Petty's 1960 Plymouth in which he won his 2nd, 3rd and 4th races, Tom Sneva's 1977 Indy car, Dillinger's 1932 Studebaker and much more. Please call David Lieb at 847-776-6683 or drop an email to drivingevents@chicagolandmgclub.com to sign up.
