Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline June 2008
Minutes of the Meeting
May 14, 2008

Taking over for Larry Carlson, President Jennifer Smith called the meeting to order at 8:13 p.m. Twenty-seven members were in attendance plus one TC and one A. Two new members were enrolled, Leigh and Joanne Clark. The Clarks are looking for a nice TD.

Doug Clark agreed to serve as Vice President, taking over for Jennifer. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to name Doug to this post.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved by motion.

Treasurer Ric Maitzen reported the treasury balance. This does not include revenues from the sale of the parts car. Bill Cole suggested it might be appropriate to donate the proceeds from the donated cars to some worthy charity.

OLD BUSINESS
Ric Maitzen reminded attendees of the VMGCC Spring Tour scheduled for May 16th - 18th. This year’s tour is to Baraboo, Wisconsin, and includes a visit to the Capital City Brewery on the way up.

This year’s participation in the annual Pet Parade has been cancelled.

The “Chicago Kruze” takes place on the 31st, ending at the south end of Millennium Park. The cruise runs from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by a car show from 10 to 3. Registration is $20. Bob Hanselman volunteered to lead a caravan of interested participants to the event.

Don’t forget this year’s GOF Central in Auburn, Indiana, July 10 to 13. The event includes a banquet at the world-class Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg Museum. If you’ve never toured this museum, don’t miss this opportunity.

Greg Hoeft passed around mock-ups of a proposed joint VMGCC/Chicagoland MG Car Club newsletter. After a spirited discussion, it was moved, seconded, and passed to try out one such newsletter.

Jerry Cihak reported that the location he had previously mentioned with the classic car collection turned out to be way too expensive. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to hold a joint Christmas party with the Chicagoland MG Car Club.

NEW BUSINESS
It was noted that we need more events on our calendar: garage visits, tours, more activities for MG fanatics like ourselves to participate in. Suggestions?

Ric Maitzen reported that the Midwestern MG-T Register had being dissolved. He has received a check for the VMGCC’s apportioned share of the dissolved treasury.

TECHINICAL TOPICS
Jennifer Smith brought in her TC’s master cylinder, stimulating a discussion of its care and feeding.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Win Gould
Secretary
