MINUTES FOR MEETING
August 19, 2002

Meeting came to order at 8:00 p.m. with 45 members present including new members, George Chevere ’80 MGB, plus two guests John & Janet Yotko. Also present was Bill, "Grizzly" Hedrick sporting his new look. Officers present were David Bralich, Ray Glorioso, Dave Mullis, & Steve Selan filling for an ailing Mike Hirsch.

OLD BUSINESS

Steve Selan ROAD AMERICA: Jake Snyder regaled the membership with tails of the years Road America camping trip. With 25 members in attendance three fun filled days and two nights were reviewed. Highlights included the auto auction on Saturday where our own Curt Bork successfully bid on yet another car, this time an MGB V8 conversion. Sunday included group 8 race day where club members Dave Bralich & Kevin Palmer both successfully concluded the race.
ABINGDON SUMMER PARTY: Jim Evans reported on the most successful summer party to date. With over 100 cars in attendance including 15 cars of prewar vintage from the MMM Register all who attended had nothing but complimentary comments. Guest speakers included John Twist, who also ran the parking lot tech seminar, and Peter Thornley whose father John ran the MG Works thru the late 60’s. Jim also thanked all those who helped put on the show, Reinout, Ray Glorioso, Steve Selan, Tom Josefek, Ralph & Susan Arata, Barney, David Mullis, Mike Olsen, David Lieb, Larry Daniels, and his wife Lois.

NEW BUSINESS

LUCAS NITE RALLY 8-31-02: Dave Lieb as Rally Master with a meeting time of 6:00 PM sharp! See details in the "Driveline"; bring a flashlight and good road map. Event will be run thru northern suburbs.
BRITISH CAR FEST BCU MEET 9-7-02: Volunteers are needed to serve as greeters at the event, you will work half hour shifts. Contact Oscar or Diana Gonzales if you can help.
FAMILY KART NITE 9-10-02: Races start at 6:30 pm at the kart track located west on route 83 service road one light north of Roosevelt Rd.
Regalia: Larry Daniels has passed the baton to David Ransum as of the meeting. David has promised some new items. Every one thanked Larry for a job well done.
50/50 Raffle: Dave Peterson won a club sign and Pam Hansen took home the cash.

Following the meeting a general discussion was moderated by our President on what one should include in the car boot for and extended trip. Several good suggestions were made.

Meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM
