Wine, Cheese, and Beer Tour
and Shakespeare too! - September 16-17, 2006

The Second Annual CMGC Wine, Cheese, and Beer tour is ready for your enjoyment.

We will be meeting at the intersection of US route 20 and Meridian Road (west of Rockford) at 8 AM Saturday morning. The departure time is promptly at 8:30. That is an early start, but we have a schedule to keep. Ann and I are going to drive up Friday and spend the night in Rockford. Several other couples have expressed an interest in staying in Rockford Friday night. We will be staying at the Sweden House in Rockford. We are planning to dine together at 6:30 PM on September 15th, at a wonderful Japanese restaurant nearby. So, if you would like to join us, please let me know so I can make enough dinner reservations for the entire group.

We found some absolutely great MG roads, a brew pub, a winery where group tours are welcome, and cheese store. We scheduled the winery tour for Sunday morning, and made lunch reservations for Saturday and Sunday.

I have reserved tickets for a matinee performance of Julius Caesar at the American Players outdoor theater in Spring Green. If you want to attend the play, but missed our cut-off date, you may still be able to get tickets on your own through the American Players Theater in Spring Green. We are attending the 3:00 matinee.

We will be staying at The Prairie House in Spring Green Wisconsin on the 16th of September. Our reserved block has expired, but there are several hotels nearby where you may find rooms. The Round Barn is next door, and within easy walking distance to the Prairie House. You might also try calling back or getting on a waiting list if the hotels are full. If you GOOGLE Spring Green, you will find a list of hotels with phone numbers.

The Prairie House is a one story Motor Court style hotel. Ann and I checked it out while we were in Spring Green. Their parking lot is made for a party. If you have any growler jugs, bring them along as we will be able to fill them up at lunch on Saturday at the Grumpy Troll. I am looking forward to a repeat of last year’s Saturday evening parking lot party.

If you are attending this event, please send me your email address and cell phone number. We will have a lot of people and their cars joining us. I will be emailing route instructions to people on my email list. Please print and bring them to the jump off point Saturday morning. Hope you all can join us!

Last Minute Update from Wade:
Spring Green seems to be out of hotel/motel rooms as of Aug.29, but the Dodgeville Best Western, Super 8, DonQ, and perhaps others all have rooms available. Dodgeville is about 15 miles south of spring Green on Rt. 23. If anyone is thinking of going on the Beer, etc. Tour and having trouble finding a room by looking in and around Spring Green, your search may not be including Dodgeville, which does have rooms available. See you up der, eh.
