Business Meeting Minutes
Monday, Monday, August 17, 2009

(Attendance: 30 members) The monthly meeting was called to order at 8:05 pm by President, Jim Evans.
Jim recognized new members – Bob Evans and Craig ‘Mack’ McCloud and visitor Ken Jacobson.
Current Car Projects –Victor L’Heureux noted he replaced a frozen caliper and scored rotor to fix the grinding sound when braking.
Past Events - See details in the Driveline or on the Website for additional details of these events.
August Tech Session – was held at Jim Evans’ garage in Glen Ellyn on August 1st. The event focused on the MGB lock-key entry system and steps needed to put a car back on the road after a l-o-o-n-g storage session. Braking system hydraulics were flushed and bled along with checking all other fluid levels. After safety checks were performed, a road test completed the day’s work.
Lincoln Highway tourJim Evans coordinated the road trip of 10 cars starting in North Aurora and continued to Franklin Grove, IL, home of the Lincoln Highway Association. After a leisure lunch and visit to the Museum, the trip continued an additional 50 miles to Fulton, IL on the Mississippi River. It was a great trip and a lot of historical sites to see.
Upcoming Events – See details in the Driveline or on the Website of the many events available for club members in the near future.
Dean Swanson announced (in the best John Wayne drawl I’ve heard in a while) the need for additional volunteers to man the upcoming British Car Festival on September 13th. A sign-up sheet with ½ hour commitments was passed around.

Summer may be winding down, but the best season of the year is starting up. Football, the fish will be putting on the big bite, hunting is around the corner, and great fall top-down drives. What could be better than returning home from an afternoon cruise to a big plate of home made lasagna or a bowl of beef stew?
If you are not in the mood for a drive in the country perhaps tidying up the old garage is the order of the day. If so, this month’s selection, Garage and Workshop Gear Guide, should fill the bill. Just remember that a clean garage, like a clean kitchen, is the sign of a sick mind.

Gear Guide

By Tom Benford
2006, softbound, 192 pages, color photos

Twenty chapters of tools and equipment for your garage workshop, from floor paints to air-conditioning, this book has it covered. Simple wrenches to air-compressors, it’s in here. My personal favorite is the refrigerator dress up kit. Make that old frig in the garage look like a stacker tool chest. Perhaps you can find something to put on your holiday wish list.
