The Steering Column from (one of) your co-chairmen

William 'Wilbur' Mennell Summer may officially be over, but the season for great MG driving is just beginning. What could be better than a top-down cruise through the countryside, enjoying the cool crisp air and the fall colors. It's certainly much better than being burnt to a crisp on those scorching July and August days. And, at least in my case, our LBCs run so much better than on those days when the 90 degree temps are matched only by the 90% humidity. So get out and enjoy your MG while you can, winter can be a long time in passing. You say that you have yard work to do before it's too late? Forget about raking the leaves, a good stiff wind will blow them into you neighbor's yard. Let him worry about them.

This month will be the CMGC's 27th anniversary. Please join us at the October meeting for cake and champagne. We have no program scheduled after the meeting so there will be plenty of time to relax and socialize with your fellow club members, perhaps someone that you may not have seen for awhile. Maybe you have an interesting or humorous story from the old days, but please keep your prevarications to a minimum. At least no outright lies.

On a more serious note, the club elections will be coming up in December. Nominations for ALL elected positions will be open at the October and November meetings. If you know of someone who would be a willing candidate, perhaps yourself, now is the time.

Lastly for those of you who were inquiring (OK, one person) when I was going to run another quiz, here it is. The other night after a Chinese dinner my fortune cookie read, "an encounter with a stranger will change your life". Deb replied that would only happen if it was Mr. Anthony. Who or what did she mean? This is not car related except for the fact that we had driven the blue MG to the restaurant. Write your answer on the back of your October 50/50 ticket. Winner must be present to win. Hint: I won't be running out to buy a new Rolls Royce.
