10/16/00 MEETING REPORT

Meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Tom Josefek, Sharon Anderson, Steve Selan and Diana Gonzales along with 52 members being present. Also present for the meeting were three of the original founding members of the club attending their 24th annual meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Technical Session: David Bralich advised the membership that on October 10, 2000, a gearbox tech session was held at the garage of Barney Gaylord in Naperville, Illinois. Members of the club were instructed on the fine points of rebuilding an MGA gearbox. Members were encouraged to bring their own problem children, where they were instructed in repair and maintenance. The next tech session will be on November 4, 2000 at the garage of David Bralich, where a session on head gasket replacement will be conducted on an MGB. Everyone is invited to attend. Contact Dave for time and location.
BCU Meet, DesPlaines, IL: Dave Bralich, our BCU representative, advised that inclement weather kept attendance down to approximately 730 cars at this year's BCU meet. Luckily, it did not rain at the event, which came off flawlessly. The show will be given again next year at the same location, on the same weekend. Our own co-chair, Diana Gonzales, has been elected President of the BCU for the year 2001 and will be running that year's car show. Therefore, we can expect a good location at the event for our club, our fair share of the awards, and additional work on the part of the membership in helping set up the event, so arrange your schedule now.
Indianapolis U.S. Grand Prix: September 23 through September 24, 2000. Bill Mennell advised that 12 members of the club attended this year's U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis, Indiana. The weather cooperated for the first few days, and the race went off without a hitch. Bill regaled us with anecdotes from the weekend. Unfortunately, no MG vehicle participated in the race, however, the Jaguars did give a respectable showing, and, as we all know, they are nothing more than glorified MG's.

NEW BUSINESS

Halloween Rally: Paul Urquhart advised the membership that the annual Halloween rally is now scheduled for October 29, 2000. Further details will be found elsewhere in this issue of the Driveline. This will be the last driving event of the year. The rally will be 50 miles; those who participate in the appropriate costume will be given bonus points. Paul promises other surprises, so try to make it.
Election of Officers: Nominations for officers for the year 2001 were opened before the membership. The following parties were placed in nomination:
For the office of Chairman:  Tom Josefek, Dave Bralich, Ray Glorioso
For the office of Secretary:  Mike Hirsch, Deb Mennell
For the office of Treasurer:  Dave Mullis, Deborah Morris, David Benni
Nominations for additional parties interested in running for any of the above offices will be open until the November 20, 2000 club meeting. On that date, nominations will close. Anyone interested in running for any of the above offices can contact any of the current club officers, and their name will be placed in nomination for the office of their choice. Ballots will be prepared and included in the December issue of the Driveline. NAMGBR Annual Meeting: Jake Snyder advised that the annual meeting, now scheduled for the weekend of October 28, 2000, will be hosted by our club at the Ramada O'Hare on Mannheim Road. The business meeting will be held on October 28, 2000 between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Ramada. All NAMGBR members are encouraged to attend.
Christmas Party: December 2, 2000 - Patsby's in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 8:00 p.m.. We have a private room, and a DJ has been hired. Mark you calendars now. As in the past, anyone wishing to bring a grab bag gift with a value of $15.00 or less, is free to do so. The club will be providing some gifts, but there will not be enough for everyone, so please bring something if you can.
50/50 Drawing: Won by Dave Bralich, who promised to use the money to buy votes.
Program for the Evening: In celebration of the Club's 24th birthday, cake and champagne were shared by all present.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
