Well, another driving season is winding down. When you read this the Halloween Rally will be behind us and we will be looking forward to the Cruise to the Rock on Thanksgiving Day.
October was a very busy month. We drove to Galesburg on the 6th for our annual Return to Abingdon Weekend. Attendance was pretty low, but those who chose to come had a great time. The hospitality suite was open Friday and Saturday and a respectable amount of food and beverages were consumed. We enjoyed the Friday night fish fry at the legion and Saturday awards banquet at the country club. I even ran my B through the streets of Abingdon for my first ever attempt at autocrossing. On Sunday, some of us participated in the sights, crafts, and events of the Knox County Color Tour Weekend as we drove home. We stopped for lunch at the Rathskellar in Good’s Furniture in Kewanee and arrived home early in the evening. The weather was absolutely perfect, sunny and in the 70’s all three days.
Ann and I drove the Fall Color Tour on October 21st. The weather as much better than forecasted so we began the tour top down. The leaves along Sheridan Road were beautiful. Seth planned a really nice route along the North shore into Racine. We stopped at the Illinois Beach State Park. The temperature had fallen so we put the top up. Then it was off north to Racine and lunch at the Baker Street Restaurant in Kenosha. Unfortunately we had lost one car just a few miles from the restaurant to a dropped valve (?). So, a good time was had by almost everyone.
On the 29th Bob Simon and I will have run our annual Halloween Rally. We started at the K Mart on RT 83 in Willowbrook. I will give you the details in next months news letter. Doug has promised us a fun drive.
We still have the cruise to the rock on November 23rd. This is an annual drive to the starting point of the first automobile race in the US.
The date, location and time is set for our annual Christmas Party. The information and sign up are in this issue and on the web. Get your reservations in for a really fun way to wrap up the club’s year.
We now need volunteers for additional staff positions. Victor L'Heureux has agreed to take over the duties of membership. Bill Mennell will be our new librarian. We still need a driving events coordinator, tech coordinator, and archivist. Let one of the officers know if you can help.
It is also time to think about officers for next year. All offices are one year terms, so all are up for reelection. The November meeting marks the end of officer nominations. Please consider donating some time or ask someone you think would be a good nominee to help keep the Chicagoland MG Club a vital and well organized group.
The October meeting was our 30th Anniversary. We had ordered anniversary pint glasses, but they arrived late. We plan to distribute them at the November meeting. Every paid member who attends the November meeting will receive a free glass. Additional glasses will be available for purchase. We will not be able to ship the glasses, so attendance is necessary to get yours.

See you on the road! - John - flobearsmgcomcast.net
