Amtrak Road Trip 2013
January 25-27, 2013

The Amtrak Road Trip 2013 will be the fourth weekend of January. There have been many comments whenever we go to the Detroit Auto Show that it is unfortunate that we have never traveled just two miles east of our favorite hotel, the Greenfield Inn, Allen Park, Michi-gan to visit the River Rouge Ford Plant.

It is different this year – we are going to the River Rouge Ford Plant. Interestingly, we will have to go first to the Henry Ford museum a few miles further away to take the museum bus back to the River Rouge Plant. The tour ($15) should take only a few hours so we will have time to go back to the Henry Ford Museum ($17) or the Automotive Hall of Fame ($8) next door. Or, equally likely, we will go back to the Greenfield Inn early to use the pool and hot tub. Learn more about the possibilities on line at http://www.thehenryford.org, http://www.automotivehalloffame.org and http://www.bestwesterngreenfield.com

Hotel: The Greenfield Inn has special pricing for us at $88 a night plus tax but including breakfast. Make your reserva-tions at (313) 271-1600, code Chicagoland MG Club for January 25 and January 26.
Amtrak: Leave Union Station at Canal and Jackson on January 25 at 12:50 P.M. on Train 352. Return from Dearborn on Sunday, January 27 at 11:43 A.M.

You will have a very enjoyable time, see incredible automotive art in the hotel, return tired but happy and ready for work on Monday. Take this trip while Amtrak is still in business. Questions: Ann or Jake Snyder, 847-295-2753 or Snyder@chicagolandmgclub.com, subject line AMTRAK.

17th Annual All British Car Swap Meet & Autojumble
February 24, 2013

The 17th Annual All British Car Swap Meet & Autojumble will be held on Sunday February 24, 2013 at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL from 8 AM to 3 PM.

This event now includes all marques of European sportscars and motorcycles; it is conducted with the goal of providing a meeting place for buyers and sellers of used parts, new parts, accessory items, tools, memorabilia, and just about anything else of interest to the European sports car and motorcycle enthusiast.

The Swap Meet is organized and conducted by our club alone although it has the enthusiastic support of all the other British Car clubs in Chicago. As in the past, we are again expecting approximately 100 vendor booths to be occupied when the doors open to some 700 – 800 shoppers. Since it’s beginning, this event has proven popular with British car enthusiasts from throughout the Midwest. Buyers and sellers alike travel in from a multi-state area in search of parts, services, regalia and memorabilia items.

Gate admission is $5 with free parking; Chicagoland MG Club members who volunteer to help produce the event are given free admission: we need member help for Saturday evening setup, Sunday registration/onsite management and Sunday cleanup. A sign up sheet will be available at the January and February club meetings, or call Victor L’Heureux 847-516-3093. Vendor space available through preregistration. Also, a volunteer is needed to man the CMGC club parts booth.
