Monthly Column of Driving Events
Congratulations to the winners of the 2013 Driving Events awards. The official presentations were made at the combined Holiday Party, followed by some announcements at the club meetings and in the newsletters. But this is the first time that I can officially congratulate the recipients in front of all of you, the members of the VMGCC and the CMGC and readers of the Driveline and the Vintage Viewpoint. Congratulations for driving your MGs in tours, rallies, and a variety of other events.
MG is a very broad hobby: restoring, repairing, collecting, reading, tire kicking, bench racing, socializing, and most importantly driving. And that's exactly what the 2013 winners did. It doesn't sound too difficult, right? Indeed, it isn't. But at the same time it is. It takes a working MG and forward planning. That's why the 2013 winners are the 2013 winners. They drove their MGs (no points for a yellow Vette or black Harley) and made sure that they had the driving event dates blocked on their calendars. CONGRATULATIONS.
And then here is the easy part. This is the time of the year to get your MG ready for the Driving Season. And when the calendar of events comes out in March, you can pencil the dates on your family, work, garage, and refrigerator calendars. Then the day before the event all you need is a tank of gas and a big smile...simple as that. And who knows, you may be the winner of a trophy at the 2014 Holiday Party!
