2012 Club Awards



Safety Fast - Success in competitive driving
This award is for driving an MG in competitive events. Although we have had quite some MG-racers in the club, several stop after a few years. Very few continue to participate on the race track and use their MG in competition year after year. Therefore it is well deserved that Dave ‘Cowboy’ Bralich receives this award for the second time in his career.






Maintaining the Breed - Commendable efforts in restoration work
Although this award speaks for itself, the meaning is stretched a little bit for 2012. Scott Boyer did a super nice job with the installation of a V8 engine in his green 1977 MGB. The only external give-away is the deep rumble but when he opens the bonnet, the remarkable craftsmanship and extraordinary details of this high quality conversion is clear.




Ambassador at Large - Promoting Goodwill towards the club
You don’t necessarily have to participate in a lot of club events to be considered for this recognition. The 2012 recipient demonstrated that point clearly by only driving his MG to the Cruise of the Rock. However, Mark Michalak brought back the Grand Lake Endurance Challenge after a long period of dormancy. And because the event took place in Grand Rapids during the University Motors Summer Party, he also brought the barbeque and picnic materials, oversaw the lunch activity at the car show, and provided food and beverages to many members and visitors on behalf of the Chicagoland MG Club
