2012 Driving Events Awards

Moss Motors Trophy - Driver of the year
This trophy is for the driver who accumulated the most points in all events over the entire 2012 season. In previous seasons, the honors went to drivers who scored real well in the rallies and or auto cross but Victor L’Heureux showed that participation is more important than winning. Three drivers scored 22 points this year but Victor participated in the most events and takes home the Moss Motors Trophy.

Victoria British Trophy - Navigator of the year
This trophy is for the navigator, or co-driver, who accumulated the most points in all events over the entire 2012 season. Partner-navigators don’t always participate in all of the events so the standings for the Victoria British Trophy don’t necessarily follow the Moss Motors Trophy. Roger and Shirley Goebbert have 21 points from 8 events. That puts Roger in 4th place for Driver of the Year, but Shirley outscored all other navigators and wins the Victoria British Trophy

Endurance Award - Most events without placing in the Top 3
This recognition is awarded for participating in the most events amongst all teams that didn’t accumulate enough points to place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the Moss Motors or Victoria British Trophies. Dino and Lisa Perez have the best strategy for this award because for the third time in a row they placed outside the top 3 for driver and navigator but participated in more events than anyone except Victor.

Rally Award
The total score of just the rallies is likely to bring forward the teams that did well in the Moss Motors and Victoria British Trophies. But this season the award goes to Russ Mehaffey who was active in all three aspects of the rally events. Russ drove his MGA in the Spring Chicken Rally, was the rally master for the return the oldest rally in club history, the Land’s End, and navigated his son Steve to victory in the Halloween Rally.

Tour Award
This award also overlaps a little bit with the Moss Motors and Victoria British Trophies. However, Ray and Sue Hansen participated in all weekend tours and organized a new tour. The Lake Shore Tour is unique because it takes the “land” out of the club name and finished downtown Chicago.
