Dave Peterson and I have teamed up to bring you this year’s Spring Chicken Tour. We are going to use a slightly different format this season. Last year we had enough MG’s to line both sides of the street...it was quite a site (see below).
The actual driving tour will start from Dave and Judy’s home in St. Charles at 9:00 AM. Dave has come up with a creative, rustic and fun running tour to my place in Lake Geneva. Once at my place we will have our traditional “Spring Chicken” lunch. There will be the regular grilled chicken but last year the BBQ chicken was pretty popular so we will have that as well. All of the sides and salads, water, pop and coffee (hopefully not needed with the great weather I am planning) will be there as well.
Over the past couple of years we have had several of our “Northern Area” members that have come out to join us. If you don’t want to head south and then turn around to go to Lake Geneva, please feel free to come on by for the lunch, yard party and MG stories. We have also invited the Vintage Club to join us as well. They are having their spring outing in the Rockford area so we are hoping they can come by as well.

2010 Secrets of Jo Daviess
County Tour

Last month Dan ran an article about this year’s Jo Daviess Tour. This month he is running some detailed information for those of us that are interested. If you need general information about the outing, please check the March issue of Driveline.

Here is some advance information on hotel arrangements for this year’s Secrets Tour. If you’re planning to attend and venturing out our way on Friday the 18th you will be interested in these hotel contacts. Main hotel: Country Inn and Suites, Stockton, IL. Phone 815 947 6060. Block of 15 rooms established under the name of “MG Club”. At the time of setup they have as non-smoking 8 standard rooms with 2 queen beds, and two with King bed. In addition they have as smoking rooms five double Queen and two King. (The hotel does have a deodorant system available for the smoking rooms.) There are various upgrade (hot tub, etc.) rooms also available. The standard rate is $92 plus tax. The block expires on May 18, after that it’s space available only.

Saturday’s driving will start from this hotel at 9am.

Alternate hotel: Baymont Inn and Suites, Freeport, IL, 20 miles east of Stockton. Phone 815 599 8510. Block of 12 rooms established under the name of “MG Club”. At the time of setup they have as non-smokiing 9 rooms with 2 double beds, 3 rooms with King bed. I believe they have upgrade rooms available. The standard rate for our block is $70 plus tax. SPECIAL DEAL ! If all 12 rooms of the block are booked one becomes free. If we fill the block the winner of the freebie will be determined by a lottery draw. The block expires on May 18 and then rooms are space available only.

Saturday night accommodations are still pending.
