Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline April 2016

New Directions
Monthly Column of Driving Events

The wait is almost over, the 2016 Driving Events of the MG Clubs of Chicago is about to start. And as always, May is packed with events. Some of you may have taken the MG out on one of the nice weekends that we had in February and March. But for real Driving Events, with other MGs and all your friends from the MG Clubs, May is the month. In this newsletter you’ll find invitations and details for 5 driving events and one community event.

We have the first Autocross on Saturday, April 30, Spring Brunch on Sunday, May 1, Spring Tune-up on Saturday, May 7. We take a break on Sunday, May 8 to honor the mothers in our families and amongst our friends. The Spring Chicken Rally follows on Sunday, May 15 and the Spring Tour on the weekend of May 20-22. In between we also help at the Car Care Clinic for Seniors in Lisle. It is a very full calendar and it may be hard to participate in all of the events.

However, and I am sure that you all know this, these events don’t just show up on our driving events calendar. There are no ‘other people’ who think, let me organize something for the MG folks in Chicago. No, it is your colleagues or fellow club members Jim Compton, Brian and Rose Dubin, Bill Mennell and Cowboy, Jim Vondran, George and Jana Phariss, and Ric and Nancy Maitzen who made the effort to kick-off the 2016 driving season in such a spectacular way. And if we all show in our MGs, they’ll be very happy and may consider an event again next year.

Last month I wrote about the big empty spot in the calendar in July. Luckily things are looking a little better now. We have finalized the plan for a garage tour that will end at Ray’s Morris and MG Picnic in Gurnee on July 16. And we’ve made progress for the 4050 Anniversary Tour. We have a very unique location and a Tour Master. But we need a few volunteers to help with the logistics and the advertising for the event. This is a very nice opportunity to get involved in, and contribute to, your MG Club(s).

As always, I look forward to hearing from you with suggestions, comments, ideas, or questions at 847-342-9804 or reinoutvogt@gmail.com

CMGC Regalia

The Driving season is upon us. If you need a Club Grill Badge for your car, now is the time to get one.

We also have a few License plate frames available for only $14.

We have a fresh supply of hats and T shirts. The polo shirts are especially nice — even have a vest pocket.
With the Driving season starting soon, be recognized as a member of the CMGC. An official Chicagoland MG Club Name Tag is the ideal way to achieve this.

The CMGC Nametags with pin-back can be engraved with up to 3 lines of text. Most of us list our name and our car on the badge.

Print how you would like the badge to read and send with a check for $5.00. Contact Victor L’Heureux via email (editor@chicagolandmgclub.com) to place your order.

And of course, you can visit our Club store at fieldhouse.com/mg and get a wide variety of personalized items. Happy Shopping!
