Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline April 2016
Special Announcement

(Continued from page 6)
Tried using the old fashioned starting handle, still nothing. Stopped engaged brain & tried jumper cables, engine turned over perfectly. So poor battery. I had been suspicious of it for some time as it was dated 02/07! Tried starting fluid and she started & then died. Lack of fuel. The new pump? Pulled the hose off the float chamber, nice flow of fuel. So a tap or two on the float chamber to free the stuck needle valve and she started under her own fuel, Yippee, so I went off & bought a new battery. Popped it in and ‘Fix-It’. Car now starts correctly and what’s more the red ignition warning light goes off when running & comes on when not, just as it should. Another cause for a SMILE! However the lesson is watch out for two faults at the same time, which is why the car didn’t start with the handle. So all that’s left to do now is to put the front floor & carpet back together and sort out the idling, 3000 rpm is a bit on the high side ………………!

As always feel free to drop by and see what’s going on.
