Things are shaping up. The anticipated Swap Meet went well, The Driving Season Schedule is shaping up, Technical Sessions are being scheduled and the weather is getting warmer! I’m seeing motorcycle groups out on the highway, convertibles with their top down and believe it or not…. I’ve seen MGs on the road!
On occasion, I contact my good friend Nolan in California. (LA area). Back in 1972 I purchased my first MGB – a 1969 Primrose Yellow MGB w/overdrive. -- Nolan was the owner of a 1957 BRG TR3. He & I would tour the state during our off-hours in the Navy in San Diego. When I was discharged and came back home to Illinois, my car was serving me well until I saw the Datsun 240Z. I had to have one.
Long story short, I again have a MGB and Nolan still has his TR3. Mine is running on the road, his has been under tarps and on blocks since 1980. He is a real car buff with many open projects. His neighbors have muscle cars, and this takes up most of his spare time. He has all the tools – English Wheel, metal Brake, welding equipment, parts cleaner, sand blaster cabinet. Every time we talk, he is in the process of getting the TR3 back on the road. As of last discussion, I think he will actually do it. He sent me a picture of a 1957 MGA Coupe he was helping restore… what a beauty! He says the TR is next….. Here’s hoping/
See you on the road...
