The month of August went too fast! – It started easily enough with a trip to Augusta, Georgia to witness my son’s graduation at Fort Gordon Army base. He completed his training to become eligible for Warrant Officer 2nd class and will be stationed back at Fort Sheridan in the Army reserves. We took in the Masters Golf outing and traveled the entire course (actually we drove the road around the golf course and saw all 10 entry gates since this is an invite-only event!) We headed to Savannah for a couple days then on to Disneyworld for a week. We traveled back to Augusta via Daytona Beach to pack up my son’s household items for the drive back to llinois. Except for the tornados in Indiana that packed a wallop all around us, the trip home was uneventful. In total we were 25 days on-the-road with no internet (do you have any idea how many emails accumulate in that amount of time?). One of my first tasks was to get my ’67 MGB started and cleaned up for the season. This was successfully accomplished with the help of the folks at the Spring-Tune-up. It is fun to travel, but “…there is no place like home!”
In this month’s issue you will find an article highlighting the Spring Tune-up session held annually at Mark Leuck’s Firestone Tire shop. There were many cars and many faces getting ready for the new driving season. Thanks to Kim Tonry and Reinout for the photos.
The first of the Driving events for this season are also highlighted. Check it out and see you on the road!
