Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline May 2012

from our President

The saying is “time flies when you’re having fun”. The time for ignoring all your troubles it's when you hear that little voice in your head saying, “take me out for a spin”.

It's never too late in the season to get your car looked at. I am not a mechanic by any means although I probably know someone that could fix it. With enough resources I’ll try my best to get you out on the road. If electrical issues are haunting you, give me a buzz. I’m pretty good and resolving electrical problems.

The CMGC and other affiliates have a nice full schedule this year. The calendar is chock full of events on Saturday or Sundays and even during the week for that great MG outing. For instance, coming up is the first Garage Tour that we will be doing it May 6th. Like last year, we will be visiting a few of our members’ house/garages, have a few refreshments and ‘talk shop’ for the most part.

The next thing we have come up is the Spring Chicken tour. Refer to this month’s Driveline or club website for more details. These events are a great time to visit friends and drive your MGs.

Thanks again to Dan Herman and Rob Bard for the fabulous slide show during the CMGC Club Meeting. The slides taken of the Amelia Island Concours Car Show were great!

from our Vice-President

I am getting excited to attend the Spring tune up next week )which will already be over with when you receive this issue of the Driveline). I am sure that as usual it will be a great event and will probably rain sometime during the event as Cowboy always predicts! I just hope that we don't find any major problems with my B that will keep me off the road for any long period of time. Of course it is good that someone sees the problem while it is on the lift as opposed to me finding the problem some night out alone on some lonely road with no cell phone service. That is the beauty of this event and the timing is perfect. Thanks Dave Bralich!

Jana and I just made our 4th drive along the Spring Chicken Tour route and we think that it is coming along nicely. We just need people to come that day. In case of in-climate weather, we will still have the drive, but we will have the chicken meal indoors. It has been kind of stormy recently, but Jana has had me cleaning the downstairs so things should be ready.

I want to thank Rob Bard and Dan Herman for the pictures they shared with us at our April meeting. What a treat it was to see the really beautiful cars and special MG's that were on display at the Amelia Island Concourse in Florida. It was really neat that Rob was able to go back and find some historical pictures of the MGA's participating in actual races to go along with the paint and number schemes that they sported at the show. Barney has posted a link to some of the pictures on our club WEB site if you are interested! What a great meeting. Again, Thanks Rob and Dan for a delightful show!!
