    Monthly Meeting Minutes
April 21, 2014

David Novak

George banged the gavel at 8:00 to bring the rowdy bunch to order.

New Members
Martin Ciesielczyk
- 1967 Midget MK3. Bucket list includes putting it back together and driving it! Looking for some help to put it back together.
James Brennan: 1970 MGB, with a Weber conversion.

Guest Speaker
Steve Skegg
gave the tech session: Showed destroyed tie-rod end, and Poly bushing, and a BMW brake-wear sensor.

Spring Tune-up: New Location! Moving to Don's Auto-Ade, Rt 59, north of Butterfield. 12-5 on Saturday, after tune-up drinks at Two Brothers Brewing! Bring your own oil and filters, if you want to change it. Bring 20W-50 oil only!

Christmas party presentation by Ralph Arata. Included about a dozen locations. Vote was taken and the majority appear to want the Wheat Stack.

A short break...
50/50 Raffle: $30 won by Rich Meservy wants it rolled-over to the next meeting! Lawn Chair won by Steve Skegg!

Swap Meet meeting. Good meet! Nearly 700 buyers! People were buying! In past years, we had more people but fewer buyers. Good weather helped turn-out. 102 spots were sold, with 74 vendors. Plus some last-minute vendors we had to make room for. Around $3000 was made by the club!

Driving Events: Driving calendar is in the Driveline. Real calendar is at the printer. Start season off at Spring Tune-up this weekend! Details in Driveline! June, Jo-Davies tour, make sure to sign up! Austin-Healey autocross, NAMGBR gathering in French Lick, Lands End Rally, etc. Dash plaques on order, and the club is all set for the driving season! Hope your MG is ready too! John says the Jo-Davies is "Not to be missed. It's the highlight of the summer!".

Car show coordinator. As staff meeting it was decided to choose a member to coordinate the club's attendance at area car shows and cruise nights. The club will select 3-4 car shows that the club will "officially" attend. Dino Perez is now heading up this new "department"!

Staff Reports:
Finance: Ralph Arata
presented the balance sheet. Extra money from old Ebay/Paypal account was added to the bottom line. Cash from swap meet hasn't been finalized. Looks like we're a little ahead of last year from the income side of things. Overall financial health of the club is doing OK
Membership: 227 members, down about 80 members.
Library: Budget cut from last year. 8 more wall plaques are left, get them while they last.
Regalia: Plaques available. Online store for club regalia. Grill

badges available, as well as lapel pins.
Driveline: Driveline will be getting larger as the driving season gets into gear. Larger newsletter costs the club more. If you want to write a story, of about 500 words, and pictures, send them to Victor.
Webmaster: It's up and running.
Facebook: It's up and running.
Tech Session: Thanks Steve for putting it together tonight! Seth brought in a transmission. Almost every Saturday Steve is working in his majestic garage! If you need help with a project, coordinate with Steve and maybe the club can make a tech session out off it. Updates in the weekly email!

NAMGBR convention in French Lick. Main venue is filled up, but other hotels around the area still available. Jim Evans is coordinating a convoy down from Homewood to French Lick, call Jim for details. Sign up now, as prices for the convention goes up in May!

One more thing: The club acquired a lot of car parts at the end of the swap meet! So it looks like we'll have to have another club "garage sale" at the storage locker, done by silent-auction. Looking at June 7th or June 14th. This may culminate in a scrap-drive to take un-needed scrap to be recycled.

At 9:33 George adjoined the meeting.

See you on the road!
Respectfully yours,
David Novak

If you are still looking for that right piece of clothing to be in style at one of our club events, then I would recommend that you give our online Chicagoland MG Store a look see at “fieldhouse.com/mg“. There is a wide selection of items, colors, and sizes and you can personalize any of the items that you select by adding a name or slogan or car information. Our store has a great selection of clothes for him, her, infants, and toddlers. You can also order a variety of accessories such as mugs and scarves, etc.
If you want to add some items not listed, let me know and I will try to have them added to our store.
Any questions, do not hesitate to ask George.
