Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline May 2014
Past Event
Spring Tune-up Party
April 26, 2014

Nearly 30 MGs in attendance this year, perhaps a new record. Lots of oil changes and lube jobs, some tune-ups and brake adjustments, and a few minor repairs. Several cars got on the extra rack for front end alignment.

The event was a ‘First come, first served’ so many arrived early. Club members and MG’s have priority.

There was a post Tune-up party at Two Brothers Brewing Co. In Warrenville.—not far away.

books Library Muse, Part 2

At the recent Tune-up Party the library ran a little 15 point quiz. The most difficult question was “who is Smokey Cook?” Nobody knew. The winners of the quiz are:
1st. Barney Gaylord, 7 points
2nd. Seth Jones, 5 ½ points
3rd. Jim Evans, 5 points.
This shows that even an MGA Guru is correct only 47% of the time, and that Midget owners are (slightly) more knowledgeable than B owners, who are really in the dark, even without a Lucas Electronics question.

So who is Smokey Cook you ask. You did ask, didn’t you? Until the recent participation of Toyota, Smokey was the last person to run a foreign car in a NASCAR cup race. On August 16, 1963, Smokey ran an MGA at the Bowman-Gray Stadium, a ¼ mile short track.
