CMGC Garage Sale and Scrap Drive
June 7, 2014—12pm – 3pm

The club inventory of used parts has reached the point where another “garage sale” makes sense. The club storage locker will be opened and all parts therein will be up for sale in a “silent auction” environment. If you haven’t been to a “silent auction” before, it works like this: interested parties write down their bid offer privately, and at the end of the auction period the highest bidder gets the item. As with our last sale, our motto is “no bid is too low to consider”.

Some parts that do not sell will be designated as scrap items and taken to a local recycler. Club members who attend the auction may wish to bring items for the recycler, and we will carry these off, too. All proceeds to the club, of course.

Location will be at the club’s storage locker at Thompson’s Grand Rental, 21W550 North Ave, Lombard IL. This is on the north side of IL RT 64 about ½ mile west of I-355. You will need to park in the visitor lot and walk in; call Jim Evans cel 630-209-8602 for last minute info/directions. This event will be postponed if it rains.

MG 2014 Drive into a Gilded Past
June 15 – 19, 2014
at French Lick Resort in Indiana.

MG 2014 will be June 15–19, at French Lick Resort in Indiana. Ann and I are attending along with several other cars from CMGC. We will drive down on Sunday the 15th. I sent the members on our list the route. It will be an easy day drive. I expect to be there about 6 hours after we start, including a lunch stop. Please check out the website at www.MG-2014.com for schedule of events and pictures. Southern Indiana is beautiful and has some great roads for driving MG’s. Of course, attendance isn’t limited to Midgets, 1100’s, and B’s. This year the MGC will join us with the addition of the MGC register. You will also see a very good selection of T’s, A’s, and even a few post Abingdon MG’s. This is a great opportunity to show off your MG and meet some really nice and knowledgeable people.

It is also time to register with the event if you haven’t already done so. Ann and I are attending the awards banquet and the car show. We have decided to pass on the bus tour to Nashville. Instead, we will drive our MG along with the Goebberts and Gonzales’ and anyone else who want to enjoy a nice drive along country roads. The deadline for early registration is passed, but you can still register for the many events. Register soon so you don’t miss the banquet. There are many opportunities for fun and education. John Twist will be there doing his rolling tech sessions. There is on-line or mail-in registration available on the site. The organizers have added a link with additional information. It is under “local info.” There is a lot of good information and it is being updated.

While the host hotel is sold out, the organizers have started a waiting list for participants. The last I heard there is no waiting and rooms are becoming available. They also have information for other hotels in the area. Check the event web site for information.

We have ten cars from our club on the email list now. If you want to join our caravan, let us know.
