Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline May 2015
Upcoming Events
Champagne British Car Festival
May 29-31, 2015

The CBCF is an all-British vehicle (cars and motorcycles) show that takes place every year the weekend after Memorial Day, making it a great start to the driving season.

Hosted in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, it is centrally located and conveniently accessible by both interstate highways (I-39, I-55, and I-74) or some of the more scenic state highways (Rt. 150, Rt. 9, and Rt. 51).

CBCF includes a full weekend of activities culminating with a public show of vehicles on Sunday May 31 on the grounds of the state historic site of the David Davis Mansion (www.daviddavismansion.org). This well-shaded venue has been applauded by everyone.

Pre-registration for this event is recommended—go to the website.

Lake Forest Place Meet
July 25, 2015—1pm to 3pm

This is a new event and a little bit special since it is the assisted living place where VMGCC member Bill Dobeus resides. There will be a car show along the reflecting pool in the front courtyard with music and refreshments. In the event of hot weather or rain the cars will be displayed in an underground parking garage. The parking area will be closed off and reserved for our cars.

Restriction: I was asked to limit the cars to 25 – please RSVP to Bob Lee, 847-924-3940 or robertedlee@yahoo.com to be included in the meet – 24 spots remain.

Friends: Please invite any friends to come see the cars. There are single residences around the building with open, wide and mostly vacant streets for friends to park on. Come join in on this fun afternoon.

Spring Chicken
Run

May 31, 2015

I hope you have saved the date of May 31 for this year’s Chicken Run. We will be starting at the same place at the Deer Park Town Center shopping mall on the northwest corner of Rand Road, Hwy 12 and Field Parkway. Park in the same lot as last year next to the Starbucks. It is easy to see once you are at the strip mall. There is also a Panara Bakery just across from the Starbucks, center of the mall and next to Hwy 12 for the newbies. We will start the Drivers Meeting at 10:00am. We will have a drivers challenge to start the drive. This is optional.

The drive will be approximately 2 hours and we will end up this year at a local watering hole where you can order lunch from the menu. Yes they have chicken along with other items. The finishing spot is Cruisin’, located in Gilberts. The address is 11 Galligan Rd, Gilberts, IL 60136. Their web site is: http://www.cruisingilberts.com. There will also be a few challenging questions to be answered along the way. Jana and I look forward to seeing you at this year’s drive, which you can see will be a bit different from our past hosting.

Please let me know if you will be attending. Home phone 847-566-5075 or email gphariss@comcast.net. Hope you are able to make it to this year’s SPRING CHICKEN RUN!!
