Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline June 2017
Upcoming Event

41/51 Tour
July 30, 2017

What better way to follow up on the very successful 4050 Anniversary Tour and lunch at the Burnham Park Yacht Club than to do a reprise! And in case you didn’t get a photo of your MG, on the lawn in front of the boats and with the beautiful skyline of Chicago in the back ground, here is a second chance.

Robert Weinstein will start the tour at the Market Square in Lake Forest for a 40 mile, 2 hour, drive to the Burnham Park Yacht Club. We will be following Sheridan Road and Lake Shore Drive with a few side tours to visit some famous motion picture locations, the Coffee & Classics Car Show in Winnetka, and Graceland Cemetery on Irving Park and Clark in Chicago. We can get together at the square at 9:00 am, there is a Starbucks Coffee and an Einstein Bros. Bagels and there should be ample parking on a Sunday morning. Drivers meeting will be at 9:30 am and departure at 9:45 am. The route instructions are in the Tulip format and should allow you to either drive the tour on your own or try to stay close together as a group.

Arrival at the Burnham Park Yacht Club is scheduled for 12:00 noon where Chris Edmonds will host our buffet style lunch. The price for the lunch is $20 per person and includes burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, cookies for desert, pop, and bottled water. The price is with tax but tips should be added when you close out the check. Alcoholic drinks will be available from the bar in the club house.

To allow the kitchen at the Burnham Park Yacht Club to prepare the food, we hope that you will RSVP with Robert before Sunday July 23rd at 312 402 1765 or robert@birchwoodbuilders.com The RSVP should include the number of people attending the lunch, the MG model or car that you’ll be driving, and your cell phone number so that you can participate in the group text messages (see below).
For questions about the event, you can contact Robert Weinstein or Reinout Vogt at 847-342-9804 or reinoutvogt@gmail.com

New this time will be a text message group. During the tour, we will be able to text every participant when we’re regrouping to drive through the car show in Winnetka or when we need to relay last minute information about road conditions. It will also allow the participants to let the group know if they notice something interesting along the way (i.e. did you see that Triumph in the driveway, or we found so-and-so mausoleum at the cemetery). And, although it rarely happens, participants can let us know when they experience MG trouble or are running late.
