Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline July 2014

MGAguru is on the Prowl

Since last month's report we have progressed from South Carolina to North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Connecticut, and Vermont. We have been fixing Little British Cars as we go as well as getting into club meetings, car shows, rally/tours, parades, museums, restoration shops, and a lot of nice mountain roads you can all drool for.

On June 10 while sitting in a McDonald's using their WiFi to update the club web site, I received a call from some CMGC blokes enjoying Natter 'n' Noggin in Downers Grove. It's okay to rub it in, 'cause I miss you guys too.

We have now traveled 6,650 miles from May 5th to June 25th, and of course we aren't finished yet (or maybe ever).

If there are any MGA folks who would like a visit as we go (anywhere in the country), just send us your contact information, name, email, location, and phone number. You can find our trip log at http://mgaguru.com/tales/mobile.htm.

Lookin’ to track down a wayward 1963 MGB

Hello, I am hoping that your enthusiasts can lend a hand. My father purchased and MGB new when he was serving overseas in the Army. When he returned to Chicago he brought the car back with him. Eventually he sold the car and as you can presume by the feeling of this email my brother and I are looking to track it down to buy/restore??.

I did the typical Google search and came up with no results primarily because it seems the VIN number is too short for the current websites. I am hoping that perhaps your MG community might be of some assistance in helping me track down what ever happened to my father's car.

The shipping papers he found indicate the following: It lists the Chassis number and the Motor Number. It was manufactured sometime in early 1963. The car is an MGB 1800 convertible Chassis number is GHN3L15028. Motor number is GAUH15176.

If you have any suggestion or tips I sure could use some.

My kindest regards,
