Where is our summer?????? It did officially begin June 21st …..(THE SUMMER SOLSTICE) Hope some of you took Doug Clark’s advice and took your cars out to an Ice cream shop – or took a drive for a bite to eat or just took a nice leisurely cruise wherever and enjoyed the longest day of the year!! Now I can’t recall if it rained or not….I think it was pretty dry and pleasant out!!

I would hope this month we will see 80 plus degree days and less rain!!!! I am thinking we will have dryer days ahead with sunshine and warmer temps for all the events coming up this month!! GEEZ…I FEEL LIKE A METEROLOGIST talking so much about forecasts, temperatures and precipitation…..

I want to give a little recap on last month’s events:
The LaGrange Pet Parade/MG Parade organized by Doug Clark, which took place on June 1st turned out to be a dry day and very humid! Six (6) MG cars showed up to drive in the parade. Although it was a bit rough for the cars due to the fact that they barely got out of 1st gear, we sure did get a lot of attention on our beautiful cars!!! I choose to walk my two dogs who too received many big smiles from the crowds (both of them in a wagon) which I pulled alongside of Tim in the midget. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!!

The Highland Games British Car show hosted again by James Brennan took place on Saturday, June 15th. Although it was overcast and we had some rain, it was not a complete wash out. The nice part of the weather is that it was pleasant and not too hot like last year was. A total of 8 cars were showcased: 7- MGs and 1 -TD. They all looked FABULOUS!!!! Congratulations to Phil Law from the Vintage MG Car Club for placing 2nd for his TD and for Tim Schafer placing 3rd for his Midget! They went up against many Jaguars and other British cars!! I was of course showcasing my 2 Dandie Dinmont Terriers in The Dogs of Scotland meet the breeds. It was really nice seeing some of the club members who stopped by to say hi to the pups!!! I am sure there will be more details in a review of this event in this month’s Newsletter.

I will have to recap on the NAMGBR, which took place Sunday-Wednesday June 23rd – 26th in Traverse City, MI. I am certain it was an AWSOME time!!!

Another event that took place was the GOF on Thursday – Sunday June 27th – 30th in Chesterfield, MO. I am sure that was also GREAT FUN!

Unfortunately, Tim and I did not make it to either of these events, so I am hoping there will be reviews on these events in theDriveline and Vintage Viewpoint next month so we can hear all about it!!!!!

The Lands’ End Rally takes place on July 6th. This event was once again hosted by Kerry & Dean Hickenlooper. I will have to recap on this next month as well.

There is still time to sign up for the Arlington Race Park gathering taking place on July 14th. All the details have been listed in the Newsletters, on the website and in email blasts. Please contact Tim Schafer (630)261-0212 if you would like to sign up for this WONDERFUL day out at the races!!!!

Miata Autocross II again at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg is scheduled for Saturday July 27th. Jim Compton would LOVE to see more of you guys out there!!!

Reminder of the two (2) National events coming up this month:
AMGCR, Friday – Mon. July 5th – 8th – Kalamazoo, MI
NAMGAR, Wed-Sun. July 10th-14th – Dubuque, IA

August Driving events are right around the corner:
Kerry Hickenlooper is organizing the annual Peds in the Weeds taking place on August 4th. She will be contacting those who will be participating in this “other event” sponsored by the MG Club.

Saturday, August 10th – Miata Autocross III Hosted by Jim Compton. This will be your LAST CHANCE to attend an Autocross for the 2019 Season. PLEASE try to make it!

Thursday, August 15th – Westmont Crusin’ Night hosted by Bill Kalafut & Jean Heasley. This is ALWAYS a GREAT night out! There is a challenging walking Rally that seems to always get the best of those participating. There is a car show and of course another chance to showcase your MG and win a Peoples Choice prize! Enjoy the music and various vendors as you walk up and down the main street of downtown Westmont. If you have not come out for this event before, try to make it this year…it’s a blast!!!!!!! Details are in this month’s newsletter.

Sunday, August 18th – Tally Ho Rally hosted by Carl Vogel is the Rally of Rally’s!! If you have not been to this event before, get ready for an entertaining ride! Carl always seems to put together driving instructions that will test your attention skills!!! All the details are in this month’s Driveline and Vintage view Point.

Mark your calendars for the following events coming up in September:

British Car Festival – Harper College – Palatine Sunday Sept. 8th
WCB Tour (Wine Cheese & Beer) – Friday Sept.2oth – Sun Sept. 22
