Garage Tour and Ray’s Morris & MG Picnic
Saturday July 22, 2017

Ah, Summer – picnics, beaches and top-town cruises in the MG -- what could be better? Well, how about a garage tour and a picnic? Sounded good to me so off to Reinout Vogt’s house to take part in this year’s Ray’s Morris & MG Picnic. The added twist this year was to incorporate a mini garage tour prior to heading to Ray’s house in Gurnee for a picnic. To start, there was plenty of donuts and coffee to indulge while looking over the progress Reinout has made in restoring his 1968 MGC. The body paint job done last year still looks fantastic especially now that there is an assembled

drivetrain in place. Suspension is in place and work is being performed on the electrical system. The original 6-cylinder engine is on the stand awaiting its turn for refurbishment. I’m sure Reinout is thinking about all the shop equipment and tools – not to mention auto parts – that will need to be packed and shipped at some point in time to the Atlanta, GA area.

With donuts in hand (or belly) we set out for our first stop – the garage of Chuck & Dale Klinger in Mt Prospect with some interesting vehicles. We looked over the 1936 Cord rebuilt from the frame up and winner of many awards.
