Our main stop was at McCabe Auto Restoration in Mundelein, IL. The company is very well known for their fantastic work on Ferrari’s and other high-end cars. We got a tour of the facility by the fabrication technician since the owner Mr. Skip McCabe was away. There was a breathtaking array of Ferraris, Cobra’s and some unique cars in various stages of restoration in the shop -- some of which have a unique history.

A 1938 Peugeot 402 cabriolet getting a unique paint job. The fenders were still in the paint booth.

This custom Ferrari was commissioned by movie director Roberto Rossellini for his wife, movie star Ingrid Bergman. The color of this custom Ferrari was also custom. Years later this color, “Grigio Ingrid”, became available for production Ferraris. Not only did Ingrid Bergman get a custom Ferrari she also has a Ferrari color named for her!

The Ingrid Bergman Ferrari was in the shop getting ready for the Pebble Beach concours d'elegance 2017. This car was was said to be worth $18M! A truly beautiful car.

From there we will continue Ray and Mardee Costa’s house in Gurnee, IL for Ray’s 4th annual Morris and MG picnic.
Tables were set up, under a couple large canopies to provide shade, in their back yard. Ray did his usual gourmet grilling of hamburgers, BBQ chicken and brats. There were many side dishes and libations to satisfy the hungry.

This is what summer is all about.
