MG Mid Summer Party

Slot racing with car guys, with a day at the beach!
A personal thank you to all who made it to our combined clubs Mid-Summer party. I enjoyed having a chance to spend time everyone in a relaxed environment. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weather day after a week of scorching heat! Many people drove their “fun” car and the parking lot behind the house was filled with an interesting collection of various makes. I think at one point we had as many Morgans as T series MG’s back there, with “B’s” and Midgets mixed in. Speaking for myself, I liked the dessert and beer/wine format as it is a great excuse to buy foods I can’t justify otherwise! And this year, it afforded me the time to talk with people during the party! The grill was hot, and some interesting food was brought, cooked and shared.
Maybe one of these years we will actually use the slot tracks (!) but in the meantime, conversation was lively and varied. We are an interesting bunch of people. I was pleased that some folks found the hammock and the roof deck to hide out and hang out. But as seems to be tradition, the kitchen and back porch saw the majority of folks. Maybe everyone likes to be closer to the food!

PEDS in the Weeds

Once again, it is time for “Peds in the Weeds”!!
For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is the Children’s Advocate Hospital’s annual picnic for children with cancer. Reinout Vogt asked me to continue the tradition of giving kids rides in our MGs!! I’ve asked a number of people already to help out and bring their car and themselves to give rides. Last year the kids were lined up waiting for rides. It’s always a joy to see the smiles on the kids’ faces as they ride in our cars!!
This is not a driving event and I’ve already asked several people to help. If you have an interest in participating next year, please let me know!!!
