Attendance: 33 members

At 8:02 pm the gavel to order was banged by Secretary Dave Novak (for vacationing in Alaska President George Phariss).

Dave welcomed new member Ross Finnelly to the club. Ross is the owner of a 1977 green MGB.

Scott Boyer is in the process of replacing the existing rear end of his MGB –V8 with a new Chevy rear end 10-bolt version.
Dave Novak installed two powerful 200w driving lamps (and a 110 amp alternator from a Saturn to power them!) in preparation for The Grand Lake Tour.
Oscar Gonzales upgraded the taillights of his 1979 MGB-LE with LED taillight conversion fixtures. What a difference in visibility!

Guest Speaker – Hagerty Insurance
This evening Tricia Felski presented an overview of coverage’s provided by Hagerty for our classic cars. Tricia owns a 1967 Triumph MK II Spitfire and does her own maintenance. She has been in the industry for over 9 years and has held many positions in the insurance field and is now the Midwest Regional Team Leader. She can be reached via email at: Victor L’Heureux presented her with a CMGC hat pin at the conclusion of the presentation and discussion.

A short break was next and the 50/50 raffle was held, Maynard Hirsch was the winner of $10! Congrats!in the Weeds

Staff Reports:
From the Librarian: Always taking requests.
Regalia - the new club badges have arrived and will be available for $20. They are not numbered.
Driveline Editor is looking for input (pictures and write-ups for past and future CMGC events.

Driving Reports:
Victor L’Heureux recounted the very successful Tally-Ho Rally. There were about 22 classic cars in attendance – largest participation for this event. No Foxes were spotted this year (They were on strike)! The rally stayed primarily in the South Barrington and Algonquin areas and finished at the Lucky Monk Restaurant.
Dave Novak noted that there were three entries in this year’s Grand Lake Tour and all successfully drove all the way around Lake Michigan. There were 20 checkpoints of which his team located eleven. Dave & Lisa placed 3rd in the competition. He said he was tired after the event and slept for a while to recuperate. Lisa helped with some of the driving.
Diana Gonzales noted that the Peds in the Weeds 2000 event was held on August 13th at Lutheran General Hospital in Glenview. This event allows Pediatric cancer patients enjoy


their day in the sun Sunday. A number of CMGC members were at the event hosting rides in their cars.

Tech Session:
A Tech Session is scheduled for Saturday, August 24th at house in Gurnee at 10:00 am. Wally has recently finished restoring his late model MGB and would like a tune-up for his Weber 32/36 DGAV carburetor and a visual inspection for other possible work that may be required before taking the car on the road.

Upcoming driving events:
Sept 7 – Donald M. Healy Rally as part of the British Car Festival.
Sept 8 - British Car Festival – Harper College, Palatine, IL
Sept 8 – Miata Autocross. Contact Bill Mennell if you are planning to participate.
Sept 19-22 - Wine, Cheese & Beer Tour – event starts in Hinsdale on Saturday (or Friday night if you reserved a room) and will travel historic Route 66 to Springfield.

Oscar Gonzales noted that the 2014 NAMGBR Convention will be held in French Lick, Indiana on June 15th next year. Mark your calendars now and get ready to join the CMGC contingency to this event.

September - Steve Skegg will host a Tech Session
October – MG Horror stories & annual CMGC birthday party (37 years!)
November – showing of legendary movie “Rendezvous” - A high-speed drive through the streets of Paris.

The meeting was closed with a bang of the gavel at 9:23 PM
