Smiles, smiles, and more smiles

On Sunday August 3rd, seven MG’s participated in the annual picnic for the pediatric cancer patients, and their families, of Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge . This was the second year that we participated to give the children a ride in our MG’s. This is quite an event with entertainment, games, music and food for about 750 people and run by volunteers in the St. Pauls Woods forest preserve in Morton Grove. We were parked together with the police car, ambulance, and fire truck. But unlike those, where the kids could just sit in them, we took them for rides to the end of the forest preserve road and back. We did well over 100 rides, some kids tried several MG or just kept coming back to their favorite. The pictures of the event and the title of this article describe it best—Smiles.

Thanks to Greg Hoeft (’47 TC), Bob Lee (’53 TD), Russ Mehaffey (’57 MGA), Ann and Jake Snyder (’69 MGB), Rich Meservey and Sundy Mead (’80 LE), and Doug Clark (’69 MGBGT) who joined Emma (’31 M Type) to give these children a reason for a smile.
