Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline September 2019
Autocross

Autocross

August 24th the Chicagoland MG Club had their last event with the Windy City Miata Club for our 2019 season. It was a beautiful day and comfortable. It wasn’t too hot, and it didn’t rain. In attendance were Troy Navarrete, his children Lauren and son Justin and I.

Troy in Cliff’s MGB
Justin is old enough to drive and ran the family Acura in the novice class, while Troy kicked my fanny in the visiting club class. Justin and his dad are working on a 1971 MGB that maybe they will bring out next year. I sure hope so. Troy’s best time was 78 seconds while my best time was 83 seconds. This was a very technical course.

With both the cloverleaf and the genie in a bottle. It was very easy to get lost and DNF (did not finish). Times across all classes were longer with the fastest time of the day well above 60 seconds and the slowest at just under 2 minutes. The slalom along the back wall was an all-out sprint to Genie. Where I would hit redline in second gear. BTW redline in second gear is just over 40 mph in my car.

Well that about wraps it up for this month. I’ll do a recap of the season next month. Until then.

Safety Fast!
