Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline October 2014

New Directions
Monthly Column of Driving Events

The 2014 Driving Events calendar starts to wind down, but it is not yet too late to enjoy a few MG Clubs of Chicago rides. The first is on October 11, when Rich Meservey and Sundy Mead are organizing their first rally, the (return of) the Lucas Memorial Night Rally. This event was not on the calendar that we printed at the beginning of the season, so I suggest that you take a pencil, or key board, and update your paper and electronic planners. Although the name of the rally sounds a little scary (it is the original name of a rally that goes back in the clubs history many years), Rich and Sundy are giving it a new twist. Minimum dark driving, a true Joseph Lucas ceremony, and home before the night really starts. The details should be in this newsletter and on the club web sites. Or, give Rich a call at 224 558 6264.

Two weeks later we’ll have the Halloween Rally, and the details are also in this newsletter. It will be like a ’real 60’s’ rally again. Easy drives between check points with scored activities. No questions or thing to distract you from enjoying the ride from forest preserve to forest preserve.

In this issue you will also find the interim points standing. It is up to date to the Westmont Crusin’ Night. The Wine, Cheese, and Beer Tour takes place during the production of these newsletters, so it is not yet included. But with the two rallies, the Fall Tune Down, and the Cruise to the Rock, there are still a lot of points to be awarded and the standings are likely to change, if you come out to participate.

In November, we will also have the Oil Change Day for the clients of Journeys, The Road Home. If you would like to help please let me know. It will be towards the end of November at Dave’s Auto Clinic in Prospect Heights. Same place and procedures as in the past.

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or ideas by sending an email to reinoutvogt@gmail.com or calling me at 847 342 9804.

  • November 2nd, the Fall Tune-Down party at Dave Bralich’s house. Dave has a small scissor lift, so if you’re thinking of doing a brake job, let Dave know so he can schedule time. Also, Dave will be making his world famous (or at least famous in Illinois) chili! So if you like chili, and/or you want to winterize your MG, stop on by! More info on the website, email, or Driveline.
  • November 27th is the last driving event of the year will be the Cruise to the Rock. Look for details…
  • Meeting adjourned at 9:42PM
