Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline October 2014

books The Library Muse

It’s a little early to think about Thanksgiving, but I think that thanks are in order to the Schroeder's for hosting the Wine, Cheese and Beer Tour for the last ten years. Deb and I have been on all of them and have always enjoyed them immensely, this year being no exception. Excuse me for mixing my metaphors, but whoever picks up the baton has large shoes to fill.

Also thanks to Steve Skegg for his presentation on winterizing/storage at the September meeting. One thing mentioned that I would like to expand upon is preparing the interior and boot. After a good cleaning and using dryer sheets or moth balls for rodent/pest protection, place a desiccant inside for moisture control. Dino likes to use the little silica gel packets that come with shoes, clothing and the like, but I prefer the larger reusable containers. Some get renewed in the oven while another type ‘recharges’ by plugging it into an electric socket. Either should last at least a month between re-charging. I’ll bring samples to the October meeting. Meanwhile there are still plenty of good driving days left so don’t be in too big of a hurry to store your MG.

No books this month but we should have a couple of dandies for next time.

We have placed an order for Club hats and they are now available at club events and meetings. We sold the last of our club hats in the spring and now have a new supply. Stop by and see our inventory, you may just see a hat that you would be proud to wear. Also, there are hats on our club store at fieldhouse.com/mg. You should check them out as well.

When you shop for Chicagoland MG Club spirit wear you can even customize the Chicagoland MG Club clothing with your own name, number, nickname or slogan in an almost unlimited combination of colors! And best of all, you can view how your Chicagoland MG Club spirit wear clothing will look before you buy!

There is another web site that has lots of merchandise for British car enthusiast where our club logo is also available and that is "Triple-C.com". Take a look at their web site as well. As always, if you have any problems, do hesitate to call George or email me and I will try to help you out.
