Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline October 2015

In Memorandum…

I have sad news to report to members of the CMGC community. Longtime club member Daniel Kent Herman passed away at the age of 75 at his home in Lake Carroll IL under hospice care with his family on September 5th, 2015. His passing was caused by kidney failure resulting from past radiation treatment for prostate cancer.

There was a Celebration Of Life Thursday September 10th at the Lake Carroll Clubhouse in Lake Carroll. There was a private service for burial.

Dan was known to the MG community as the organizer of the long-running Secrets of Jo Daviess County Tour. Dan will certainly be missed by everybody in the community. Although Dan became fond of ATV’s, his prized machine he worked on and restored was his 1965 MGB sports car, which he owned for 37 years.

Dan will be missed by family and friends, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice in his honor.
Upcoming Event
Lucas Memorial King of Road Rally
October 11, 2015

Having checked the position of the stars, phases of the moon and killed a chicken we have determined the date and time for the Lucas Memorial King of Road Rally; however, it appears in the Lucas tradition, a few wires got crossed and date in the September Driveline was noted as October 8th so please note corrected date.

While a night rally was considered, in the words of Joseph Lucas himself “A Gentleman does not motor about after dark”. So….. On October 11, 2015 at 12:00 PM in Fox River Grove the members of VMGCCC AND CMGC will rev their engines and rally. Drivers meeting will begin at 11:30 AM so plan to arrive early enough to allow time for registration.

The rally will start at the Jewel parking lot located in Fox River Grove on the west corner of Route 22 and Northwest Highway, Panera Bread and Starbucks are nearby and will allow ample parking for a large group. The route will travel 2.5 miles on 2 state roads and less than a mile on a state hwy. and 48.9 miles of easy and scenic country driving. While the drive may be easy, you’ll definitely need to be alert as we’ve incorporated a collage of challenges throughout the route from previous club rallies. There will be 4 stops with facilities in the route, with the fourth stop being our final stop for food and beverages at Kelsey Roadhouse, 352 Kelsey Rd., in Barrington, IL. (www.kelseyroadhouse.com) Menus will be available at the 3rd checkpoint for those who wish to order in advance.
