I want to thank the Club members, Dino Perez, Jim Evans, Victor L'Heureux, Phil Wydra, Barney Gaylord, Ralph Arata and Doug Clark, that spoke about their MG “Horrors” of the past at our October meeting. On a personal note they reminded me of some of my own scary and maybe now they are humorous, automobile memories from the past. We had a great turn out, including several wives, for the meeting and club Birthday party. It is a great tradition to have cake and champagne and to celebrate the club's birthday. Happy 37th Birthday to the Chicagoland MG Club!!!

We also started the nominating process for club officers for next year. Final nominations will take place at the November meeting. For President, I was nominated as I am willing to serve another year. For Vice-President, John Kearns was nominated. This is Johns first time being nominated as a club officer. For Secretary, David Novak was nominated, as he stated that he was willing to serve another year and Ralph Arata was nominated to the Treasurer or Minister of Finance position, as he is willing to serve another year. The balloting process will take place during the December period, with the results announced at the January meeting.

Two neat events coming up in November are the Fall Tune Down and Chili Party, thanks Dave Bralich for hosting, and the Cruise to the Rock. As you know the Cruise to the Rock is held at the start and finish line for the first ever car (they weren't called that then, they weren't even called automobiles then) race held in North America, in 1895! Thanks Ann and Jake Snyder for keeping us informed of this fun and meaningful event.

The Christmas party is being held December 7th, at Bella Vista in Bensenville with the Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago and since we will all be together, we will also be presenting the Driving awards for 2013. This is convenient, since we held joint driving events this year. We need to thank Reinout Vogt for successfully making this happen. I am also told by Jim Evans, that he has been able to get the World Touring and World Famous “Abingdon Players” to make a guest appearance at this year’s Christmas Party. It should make for another great evening. I hope to see everyone there! There will also be some very nice door prizes as well as the gift exchange. To participate in the gift exchange, you just need to bring a gift (approximate value of $10) to the party to exchange. Either one per couple or one per person, however you want to participate. Or none, if you do not wish to participate. Either way is OK.

At our November club meeting we will be viewing the short movie “Rendezvous”. For January, we will be hearing from Doug Clark as he explains how he navigated through the insurance claims with his flood damaged vehicles.
