Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline November 2014
Special Announcement
Chicagoland MG Club
Staff Position Elections

The Chicagoland MG Club consists of a membership of over 260 members; the majority residing in the Chicagoland area. The club is staffed with four elected officials and currently eight support staff positions. Staff members meet once a month. Being a club staff member is an honored position and is truly rewarding.

As we prepare for our 39th Anniversary in the year 2015, we will need strong leadership moving forward. You as an active member in good standing it is your obligation to cast your vote for the candidates running for the staff positions.

A voting ballot will be included in the December issue of Driveline. Please cast your vote for the following positions:

  Elected Staff Positions           Candidates
President David Novak
Vice-President John Kearns or Ray Hansen
Secretary/Membership Victor L’Heureux
Treasurer Phil Wydra

The ballots are pre-addressed and will be sent to the Election Teller. Please do not send your ballot inserted into the membership dues envelope as this will delay the vote being counted ( if it gets rerouted to the Election Teller in time for tallying.)
Ballots received after December 31, 2013 may not be counted.

Below are short candidate bio’s for the Vice-president position.

Ray Hansen
  Vice-president Candidate—John Kearns

I am very honored to once again have been nominated by my peers for the job of vice-president of your Chicagoland MG Club.  I accepted the nomination because I am interested in providing active leadership on some issues facing this Club in transition, mostly in terms of putting in ways to poll the members on what the members want the Club to do and to be going forward.  We are all vested in what some have called a dying sport.  We should be concerned how are we going to bring new blood into British motoring in order to keep the boat afloat.  Club finances are an issue.

We have a strong event schedule, but I think we must be concerned with promoting more active involvement of the membership, and opening the door to new blood in Club leadership.  Club leadership needs to hear the opinions of the members on issues, especially affecting finance.

So I think specific Club goals have to be defined and policies set, and strong financial objectives set and achieved.  And the door has to be opened for input, and the hard questions asked of the members. Strong leadership must be exerted to take us in possibly new directions, all with the advice and consent of the membership.

Thank you.
Safety Fast!

John Kearns
