Chicagoland MG Club
Staff Position Elections

The Chicagoland MG Club consists of a membership of over 280 members; the majority residing in the Chicagoland area. The club is staffed with four elected officials and currently eight support staff positions. Staff members meet once a month. Being a club staff member is an honored position and is truly rewarding.

As we prepare for our 38th Anniversary in the year 2014, we will need strong leadership moving forward. You as an active member in good standing it is your obligation to cast your vote for the candidates running for the staff positions.

A voting ballot has been included in this issue of Driveline. Please cast your vote for the following positions:

 : Elected Staff Positions
President
Vice-President
Secretary/Membership
Treasurer
 :
George Phariss
John Kearns or Victor L’Heureux
David Novak
Ralph Arata

The ballots are pre-addressed and will be sent to the Election Teller. Please do not send your ballot inserted into the membership dues envelope as this will delay the vote being counted (if it gets rerouted to the Election Teller in time for tallying).
Ballots received after December 31, 2013 may not be counted.

Oil Change Day
November 9, 2013

On Saturday, November 9th we had the fourth edition of our Oil Change Day for the people of Journeys at Dave's Auto Clinic in Prospect Heights. We had 23 people signed up, more than last year. But despite the reminder cards that they receive when they register for the free oil change at the Hope Center, we still had eight no-shows. Juan, one of Dave's mechanics, and many volunteers from the MG Clubs in Chicago where at hand to change the oil and do a little bit of a safety inspection on the cars of the homeless clients of Journeys.

We had two shifts lined up but because many of the clients showed up well before their appointment time, the first shift volunteers were very busy while the second shift didn't have too much going on. Next year we'll have to do that a little bit different. Yes, I said next year because despite the no-shows it was a very successful day and we'll do it again next year. You should see the smiles on their faces and hear their thank-you's to really get a feeling how well our work is appreciated. It makes you realize how easy it is to help the less fortunate with some oil and just a little bit work. Thanks for Dave, Juan, and all the volunteers.

"The more you drive (or change oil) the more they smile".
