Phil and Sandy Wydra are the highest placed MGB outside the Top 3. Just outside, as they only came a few points short and placed 4th overall.

Navigator of the Year
All previous awards are for teams; driver and navigator. However, two navigators stand out this year.
Phil Law drove his 1951 TD to and from nine events. Solo, from home to the start and back home from the finish, acting as the navigator as well. And he also navigated himself in six of the nine events and finished the season in 9th place overall.
Penny L’Heureux accompanied Victor in many events this year but fell just outside the Top 3 places for any of the previous awards.

Most MGs Models Driven
Several members have, and drive, more than one MG. But no member participated in more different MGs than Doug Clark who drove his MGBGT and MGC and co-drove in two different TDs, one TC, one Midget, and three different MGBs.

Special Recognition
Last year we presented a Young and Old recognition for a member/grandson team. In 2016, no team repeated that. However, two members did something similar.
Going Out With Grandpa Caden and Addison Carver
Three Risner Generations Gerry, son Paul, grandsons Cameron and Connor (Tally Ho Rally)

Bad Luck
Although we didn’t see any major MG breakdowns, several small problems came up in 2016. Luckily Dino was there most of the time to fix stuff, and still place 9th overall.
Glad You Were There (to keep us going) Dino Perez

The Rest of the Story…
A look back at the 20th year anniversary of the CMGC

At the close of our 40th anniversary year, you might find it interesting to read a little bit more about the history of the Chicagoland MG Club.

In 1996, the year that we celebrated the 20th anniversary, Driveline editor Kim Tonry put together a very interesting “20th Anniversary Commemorative Special Edition” of our newsletter. It can be found in the archives on our website using this direct link: http://chicagolandmgclub.com/driveline90/1096/ The cover actually shows a picture of the very first real newsletter, volume 1, number 1, July 18, 1977. Can you believe it, the name was Morris Garages’ Best! - MGB!, including the exclamation marks. Inside, on pages 5 through 11 you’ll find a detailed history of the first 20 years of our club, including the advertisement in the September 18, 1976, Chicago Tribune that started it all.

Jim Evans wrote “A History of the Chicagoland MG Club”, a three-installment series that was published in October, November, and December of the year 2009. ((http://chicagolandmgclub.com/driveline00/1009/ - http://chicagolandmgclub.com/driveline00/1109/ - http://chicagolandmgclub.com/driveline00/1209/) That series brings the club’s history up another 13 years.
