Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline July 2022

Feature Event

Literature: A complete library of car magazines, Ford manuals and literature. And when I say a complete library, Jordan has Ford sales brochures and manuals from every conceivable country where Ford cars were sold such as Argentina, China, Ecuador, India, Italy, Japan. Did I mention everything is highly organized? This is not your typical throw it in a pile and get to it some day collection. This is so well organized that any librarian would be envious…For the kids out there, a librarian is a person that organizes big buildings full of books of information that people once visited before Google was invented.

Workshop and Parts: A favorite, had to be the bright yellow 1930’s Ford school bus. This is a 20-year restoration as parts are not available and most body parts are being hand fabricated. Once complete, this may be the only Model A chassis school bus in existence as he does not know how many were made or if any even exist. Also in the restoration shop are hundreds of neatly organized Ford parts. I was amazed that he had several drums full of just steering wheels and columns. My guess is that he may have enough parts to build another 100 or so complete cars if he wanted!

Even though the rain dampened our cars a little towards the end of the trip, it sure didn’t thwart the trip in any way.

Like all good things, we ran out of time. What we did see was a very personal history of maybe half of his vehicles. I hope we can get another opportunity to learn about this collection from Jordan as he has a lifetime of knowledge on Fords.

After spending about 2.0 hours at the museum we then headed around the corner to the Stone City Saloon for lunch and drinks. What a great driving day!

Thanks to Bill Kalafut for putting this all together for us.
