Miata-MG Autocross
Alexian Field, Schaumburg, IL - August 21, 2016

August 21st was our last autocross of the season. It was a full field of 75 racers.

Rich Meservey, Dean Hickenlooper, Tim Schafer and Jim Compton participated with our MG’s.

The weather was great. Not too hot and Dry!

We had a challenging season this year, with mechanical and weather issues. So we did the See no Evil, Speak no Evil, Hear no Evil to appease the Gods of fate. It must of work because we got in 11 runs each. Plus, ALL MG’s that arrived left under their own power. This may have to become a new ritual.

Now for the results. Tim placed 1st for the MG’s with a best time of 64.929 seconds. Dean was hot on Tim’s heals with a best time of 65.253 seconds. Rich placed 3rd at 69.088 seconds and Jim finished with a best time of 72.859 seconds. The top time of the day of all cars was 53.425 seconds.

Maybe, having all these stickers helps Tim go faster? Hmm, maybe next year! As I wrap up this season I want to say thanks to everyone involved. Special thanks to Pat Marcus of the Windy City Miata Club. She’s been pulling for us ever since we started racing with them. To those that haven’t yet joined us yet. Please know, that you only race against yourself. Really! While the whole day is a commitment, it is very tough to make it worth your while otherwise. Register early. I repeat REGISTER EARLY!! This year has seen just about every one of the events at full capacity. I hope to see a few more MG’s next year. Come join the fun! -- Jim Compton
