Elkhart Lake Street Race Circuit Tour, Saturday

The Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival is held in the beautiful autumn in Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine country. This year, MG is the featured marque and the “MG Vintage Racers” club has been attracted to choose this as their annual “Focus Event”. Many rare and seldom seen MG models (many from the eastern states) will make the journey to Road America to test it’s magnificent four miles of fast, twisty, climbing and diving pavement. The entire racer’s paddock is open to spectators for up close viewing of the cars and conversation with the racers and crews.

Saturday will offer a guided driving tour following much of the original route used in the early 1950s for the historic Elkhart Lake street races. In addition, a downtown celebration is planned. Vintage racing runs all three days with an ALL MG race on Sunday. More than fifty MGs of all models and years are expected to take to the track simultaneously!

We are urging MG drivers to join us as spectators at this one-of-a-kind event. It may be many years (if ever) before this many vintage MG racers are assembled in the Midwest again. Spectator admission is $10 Friday, $15 Saturday and $15 Sunday, per person.

Participation in the street circuit tour is at no additional charge but pre-registration is required before Sept.19th. Registration forms are available at: www.vscda.org/pdfs/ELVFstreettour.pdf or from Kelvin Palmer at 847-945-8915 evenings. “Touring” laps on the racetrack are offered around noontime, Saturday and Sunday, to sports car driving spectators for $50 per day fee (includes $15 admission for driver). Registration with VSCDA and a tech inspection at the track are required for “touring”.

Elkhart Lake and the Road America racetrack are located 1 hour north of Milwaukee on Rte. 67. From Chicago....Take I-94 to Milwaukee and into downtown Milwaukee to I-43 going north. Stay on I-43 north out of Milwaukee to the Hwy 57 junction at Saukville (approximately 24 miles). Go north on Hwy 57 to County J (3 miles north of Plymouth). Turn left (west) on County J and go about 2 miles to Hwy 67. Turn right (north) on Hwy 67 and the entrance is about one mile north on the left side. Downtown Elkhart Lake is just a bit farther north, past the track entrance.

The event is presented by Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA).   Links:
