Left Hand Drive
from your President

William 'Wilbur' Mennell Time is a mysterious thing. Mathematicians and philosophers have contemplated time through out the ages. Muses have waxed poetic. You may have time on your hands, time to kill, or you might spare me a minute of your time. But wait a minute, you may be weeks behind in your work. Time is money. Time waits for no man. Time is tight (Booker T and the MGs), time is on my side (Stones), but you can’t save time in a bottle (Jim Croce). And it’s always Miller time or time for a nap.

Where am I going with this? Well not only does every second count, but every 1/1000 of a second counts. That was the difference between Kyle’s best time and my last run of the day at October’s Last Gasp auto cross. After he beat me in September’s event his head got so big that we had to get him a bigger helmet. But the finale was a different story. Youth will be served, but in this case youth will be serving. Serving me dinner at the family Christmas get-together.

And speaking of youth, last month I mentioned young men and old cars. But if you were at the October meeting you may have met one of our new members, a 16 year old young lady who has taken on the ownership of an MGB. I just hope that she doesn’t get bored sitting around with a bunch of Mostly Geezers. In any case I guess that I should have said young men and women with old cars. The next generation is coming on board. The circle is complete. It’s a beautiful thing.

I would like to thank Al Piemonte Ford for all of the support that they have given the CMGC over the years. Due to new insurance regulations they will not be able to host the fall Tune Down. Fortunately another new member has stepped forward and agreed to open his repair/restoration shop for our use. So the location has changed but the tune down party is still on. We also have the Thanksgiving Day cruise to the Rock on tap, as well as the Holiday Party on December 4th. And still time to hit the road in your MG before the snow flies and the road salt is laid down.

Wilbur
