Spring! It’s here!  The sun has shone now for several days!  It hasn’t dipped below freezing in days!  Maybe even weeks!  My wise old barber, Karl, was right!  Spring is here!  My hops are sprouting like weeds.  My neighbor’s daffodils are blooming!  It’s here!

So now I have to get this boot off my clutch foot, and get the B on the road, and roaring like the British Racing Green flash that she is.

Chicago in the spring is a great place to be.  The lakefront comes alive, the trees, flowers and birds wake up from their winter slumber.  It’s the time when the roads and highways come alive with the cool, and unusual cars that have been safely stored for the winter.  In just the last week, I’ve seen loads of motorcycles, a fair share of ‘60’s muscle cars, a classic VW Beetle, and believe it or not, a Citroen 2CV wobbling its way around Logan Square on a Saturday night.

There has been a lot of excitement over self-driving cars.  Sure, maybe they’re the wave of the future, but I’m not sure that they’re right for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to take a nap on the way to and from work, but I think I’d miss the ebb and flow, or maybe the swerve and honk, that comes with piloting yourself through the madness that is Chicago traffic.  Maybe I’m just a luddite, and maybe this is why I drive an MG.

Have a great spring everybody!

What a great weekend we had in the middle of April. Spring finally arrived only to retreat again, but it is coming. It was a good weekend to wash the dust off of Maggie after a long winter’s nap in the garage.

A leisure drive would have been nice too. Notice I said “would have been”. Susan and I had planned a day with my grandson on Saturday. So, the washing and driving was put on hold. We spent Saturday at the zoo. Not an original idea for such a beautiful day. The zoo was packed. Sunday offered another chance, but priorities got in the way. The priorities come in the fashion of household chores. Not my priorities, since mine are all about play but priorities that need to be addressed. First on the list was replacing a ceiling fan. Most of you are thinking “how long can that take?” Well, I am not the handiest person around. So, things often take me longer than expected. Seems like every chore I try to tackle has something go wrong. I got a late start so by the time I finished it was too late and I was too tired to do anything more than sit in the gazebo with Susan and enjoy a margarita. Yes, I did get the fan up and all is working. Susa worked on other priorities all day so we both felt we deserved a margarita.

All things considered it turned out to be a good weekend. As I write this, I have rearranged the priorities. I will be working on my hand brake. As I said I am not the handiest person around so I enlisted a friend to help. He is much more capable than I when it comes to working on cars so I think this will be a fun project. If anyone has some helpful hint, let me know. When we are done, hopefully we can take that leisurely drive. Maybe your priorities will have you driving you LBC when weather permits. Enjoy the drive.
