Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline August 2015
Feature Event

the navigators of course, not the drivers!

We drove more alluring roads and settled in the lovely Galena Cellars Vineyard. A quaint Winery with elegant selections of reds & white wines, ports and champagnes. We took a group shot, with an unexpected guest we met while enjoying a glass of wine on the vineyard grounds. It was a Corgi named Ine, whose owners graciously let him volunteer as the Mascot to accompany our group shot. How fitting to have the Queens dog in out photo shoot! Back to the headquarters at the Country Inn to freshen up and head out to our last journey for the day.

We drove to the Lena Beer Brewery and had a very enthusiastic Brewery tour guide who gave us the lowdown on making the finest beer in this nostalgic brewing facility.

The most fascinating fun fact we learned was about the original Purina owners of this building. Their prize authenticity lies in the men’s bathroom where the urinals, (the so called Miller Lite Brewery) sink, floor and walls are made of original material that miraculously do function.

After our tour guide educated us on how to be “BREW MASTERS”, we were treated to a tasting of varieties of beer and then proceeded to the restaurant adjoining the brewery for a delicious dinner.

Sunday was a day to adventure on our own and head back to the “FLAT LANDS” of the Chicago area.

Thank you Ray and Sue Hansen and Dan & Mary Kerkman for a MEMORABLE, SPECTACULAR outing!

Lake Forest Place Car Show
June 25, 2015

Fourteen cars were presented at Lake Forest Place for the benefit of the residents and the fourteen owners. A good selection of vehicles attended. There was an M Type, a PA Airline Coupe, 2 MGTCs, 5 MGTDs, 3 MGBs, one Midget and a Morris 1000 Traveller “Woody”.

There were more than one hundred residents that came out to see the cars and ask questions and talk to the owners. Our former member, Bill Dobeus viewed the cars with his wife, children and grandchildren, all had an enjoyable afternoon.

There were shady areas to sit in the front by the water fountain/reflecting pool and the building’s portico. Lake Forest Place provided ice, water, lemonade, ice tea and fresh fruit snacks.
