This was a Progressive Garage Tour, starting from someone’s house for some show and tell, some refreshments, and go to the next garage.

Tales of the Mongrel -- Ralph Arata -- Garage Tour #1

On Saturday, May 25th the Chicagoland MG Club had its first “Garage Tour” with our Master Of Ceremonies, Dino Perez in command of the tour with Lisa Perez managing the tour’s anchor (the Perez residence in Lake in the Hills) and luncheon. Dino (as usual) did a thorough and professional job of setting this event up and providing both driving direction and advice to ensure a day for all!!
This writer is not sure how the garage tours were started but basically we convoy to a number of member homes for coffer, snacks (and the occasional beer). We check out the garages, any car projects, take house tours but primarily have a rolling Natter ‘n’ Noggin i.e. a social event.
There were five stops on this tour moving from the Goebbert’s in Huntley to the Schnell’s in Crystal Lake to the L’Heureux’s in Cary and then onto the Scherb’s in Crystal Lake. We ended with lunch at the Perez’s.
The weather was somewhat “iffy” but held out for us making for a cool and casual drive from garage to garage.
I personally view these “Garage Tours” as purely social events where club members can come together to basically get to know each other better. Hopefully the pictures below tell the rest of the story.
